Safe Privacy Gate

Notice before you send.

A Chrome extension that checks for confidential or internal information inside your browser at the moment you send to AI tools or web forms.

Available on the Chrome Web Store
mail.example.com
A Safe Privacy Gate confirmation dialog over a mail compose window, headed “This may contain personal info”, naming a credit card number and a US phone number, with two buttons: Cancel and Trust this site.

USE CASES

Just before you press send

What slips past you while pasting is still catchable at the moment you send. That moment is where the check happens.

Pasting a long block of text into an AI chat

Once you have pasted in quotes from documents and mail threads, it stops being obvious what came along with them. The check runs as you send, so you can delete what turns up or send anyway.

Submitting an enquiry or sign-up form

The name and contact fields are filled in deliberately; the free-text box tends to collect a whole pasted thread. The confirmation appears when you press submit, so you find out before it goes rather than after.

Attaching a file whose name still carries a name

However carefully you check the contents, the file name sits outside where you are looking. File names are checked as well as text fields, so it comes up before the attachment goes out.

Pasting a thread into a ticket or an internal tool

Internal tools are usually visible to more people than you picture while writing. Before you post, you can see whether a customer’s email address or account number came across with the text.

Watching for numbers only your organisation uses

Employee numbers and project codes have shapes no general detector knows about. Register them as your own rules and they are checked before you send, alongside email addresses and the rest.

Features

Designed to stay out of your way.

When something is detected, that one send is paused for you to confirm. It never edits your words or sends anything on its own. The decision stays with you — it simply offers a brief, gentle moment to double-check.

Checked locally

Every check runs entirely inside your browser.

No external sending

Nothing you type is ever sent to an external server.

Never rewrites your text

It never reformats or edits the text you paste.

No auto-resend

Whether anything goes out is decided by your click alone.

DETECTION & SETTINGS

Detection & settings

What it finds, and how far you can tailor it.

1What it detects

On any site

Formats that look the same no matter the country or region.

Email IP address API keys & tokens Credit card

Tuned to your region

Number formats that differ by country, matched to your region.

National & personal IDs Phone numbers Postal codes Bank account & IBAN
Regions supported (8) Japan United States United Kingdom China EU India South Korea Brazil

Cards and other numbers are checked against their check digits, so unrelated strings of digits are far less likely to trigger a warning.

2What you can adjust

Every setting saves automatically and applies to open tabs right away.

Enable protection

Adds a quick check before sending on every site (trusted sites excluded).

Default: ON

Detection rules

Toggle regional presets on or off, and add your own words or regex.

Customizable

Trusted sites

Register sites that should never show a warning (subdomains included).

Optional

File-name check

Warns on sensitive words in attachment file names (contents are never read).

Default: ON

Country & region

Detected automatically; switch manually any time.

Auto

Display language

Auto-selected by your browser language; switch manually from the header.

Upper limit of characters scanned at once (default 200,000).

HOW IT WORKS

A gentle pause at the moment you send

A “warn gate” that acts only the instant you try to send. If nothing sensitive is found, nothing happens and your send goes through as usual.

1

Catch the moment of sending

Scans only the text and file names about to be sent, right there on your device. It watches four actions.

Form submit Send button Ctrl / Cmd + Enter File selection

A plain Enter is a line break, so it is not blocked — except on AI chat sites where Enter itself sends; there it is checked too.

2

Stop it on the spot if found

If something the rules cover may be present, that send is paused and a confirmation dialog appears. It never forbids sending — the final decision is yours.

Shows the detected types Never the actual value Shows the site name
3

You decide

Just two choices, and never an automatic resend. For safety, “Stop sending” is selected first.

Stop sending Trust & resend yourself

PRIVACY

Our privacy promise

Because it exists to help you notice, it never takes custody of your information itself.

What you type never leaves this extension.

Checks finish on your device, with no server sending, analytics, or telemetry whatsoever.

Where data lives

Only your settings are stored on your device — the text you type is never saved.

External traffic

No network requests, usage analytics, or telemetry.

Permissions needed

Just settings storage and detecting send actions — it runs on minimal permissions.

Verify it yourself

Traffic from the extension itself (its service worker) shows in the dedicated DevTools opened from chrome://extensions; traffic from the content script running in the page shows in the page’s own DevTools (F12).

Frequently asked questions

Is my input sent anywhere?

No. All checks run inside your browser and nothing is sent externally.

Is my text stored?

No. It is only read momentarily for the check and is never stored.

Does this completely prevent leaks?

No. It is a helper that prompts awareness — the final decision is yours.

How is this different from enterprise DLP?

It is a lightweight personal check tool. It does not perform organizational monitoring or enforcement.

COMPARE

Gate or Mask — which one?

Both are sibling tools that act before you send. Pick the one that fits your goal.
